ST‑2‑FR is a flame‑retardant, low‑smoke PVC compound designed as an outer sheath material for XLPE and PVC‑insulated power/telecom cables. It aligns with Indian Standard IS 5831 (ST‑2 FR/FRLS) used globally in wiring and cable industries

FEatures

1. Flame Retardant / Low Smoke: Oxygen index ≥ 30%, low smoke emission—often halogen‑free variants available .

2. Thermal Stability: Maintains integrity at elevated temperatures; typical thermal stability ≥ 100 min @ 200 °C

3. High Dielectric & Mechanical Properties:
I. Tensile strength ≥ 12.5 N/mm²
II. Elongation ≥ 150% pre‑ and post‑aging

4. Aging Resistance: After 7 days at 100 °C, TS and EB variations capped at ±25% (sometimes ±20%)

5. Low Temperature Flexibility: No cracking down to −15 °C; retains ≥ 20% elongation

1. Cable Sheathing for medium to high voltage power and control cables up to ~90 °C operating temperature

2. Telecom, Robotic, Automotive, and Fiber Optic cable sheaths

3. Used widely in domestic, industrial, and outdoor wiring to comply with fire safety standards.

4. Thermal stability : (200 °C) ≥ 100 minutes

6. Temperature index: ≥ 275 °C (indicative of safety rating)
